We offer you to visit one of the most famous buildings of St. Petersburg which is considered one of the symbols of Russian Empire and the top of Russian Empire architectural style – the General Staff. The huge complex of buildings opposite the Winter Palace was constructed in 1820s-1830s. The world-famous building by C. Rossi which stretches to about 600 meters was considered the longest façade in Europe at the time. The buildings connected with an arch with the flying Chariot of Glory have been a city’s carte-de-visite for a long time. That is because every day many visitors pass through the Staff’s arch to the most famous city’s museum, the Hermitage. Today this ‘carte’ has another sense: the eastern part of the Staff is now a museum space that hosted the Ministries of Finances and Home Affairs in the imperial period.
